Lunch Hour Luxury

We hate wasting precious mid-70 degree weather by spending our lunch hour in florescent light purgatory. So we escaped to Hillcrest for an hour today and soaked up a little sun (face protected by SPF 25, of course!) and nabbed a couple of bargains.

For a Monday, Box Turtle was definitely hopping -- with customers, as well as luscious goods. We have to fight the urge to tote home a new Hobo every time we dodge in, and today was no exception. Plenty of adorable spring and summer handbags. Our fave, though, was not unreasonable. Imagine hitting the farmer's market or Barnes & Noble with this on your arm through Labor Day:

And soooooooo affordable at $27.

We're a bit tired of the trend stories everywhere about buying reusable shopping bags. Like we all don't have bags laying around the house we can haul to the grocery. But this one cops just enough attitude to not feel cliche' ($23):

Box Turtle has tons of pieces by this company, Dogeared, and they're all witty and fun. We didn't see these in the store, but they're great, too:

(BTW: If the bag picture is too small to see, that's Al Gore.)

We then trekked to a couple of our favorite deal destinations: Hillcrest Junk (where we've bought a good chunk of the furniture in our abode) and Poor Little Rich Girl.

Be sure to stop in PLRG this week, where you can pick up some great consignment shells and camis for 15 percent off through Friday.

We noticed lots of cute glassware at Hillcrest Junk -- goblets and vases. This candle holder was the best of the day, though, and only $6:

Last stop before work called us back to reality: The Shoppes on Woodlawn. LOVE this place! We have way too many vases in our home, but these two-piece bud holders were too cute to pass up for $10. The steel-edged top gives them a hint of masculinity. Now Reluctant Shop Boy can have a flower on his bedside table, too!
