Mama Said Knock You Off

We recently heard someone refer to J.C. Penney as "Jacques Penne." Sure, this joke has been around about Target since long before they dropped the weirdo dog from their commercials. But Shop Girl still thought it was creative. After all, J.C. Penney has stepped it up lately. We've noticed that Penney has knocked off a good chunk of the super cute goods at Pottery Barn. Just check out Pottery Barn's chic and popular Claudia bed, which starts at $500.

Strikingly similar to this lovely from Jacques Penne, no? (They won't let you download their pics. Sneaky!) Our new favorite knock-off brand has it priced starting at $189. Sweet

We’ve also been eyeing these chic barstools at Pottery Barn:

Only to find these beauties for practically a quarter of the price!

We’d love to fill our home with gems that scream, “PB!” But we’re totally not above pretending when the label says “JC.”

And this story from The New York Post is a bit old but still fascinating.

Take a look at this graphic that ran with it --->

We mean, really, why would you pay $215 for uncomfortable Stuart Weitzmans when J.C. Penney will give you practically the exact same freaking thing for a ten spot?

It’s a not trip to Chinatown where you worry about being abducted as you follow a crazy man to the ninth floor of an apartment building and are asked to show a card with bizarre symbol on it to an obese woman who can’t speak English all for the sake of passing off your bag as a certified Prada to your unsuspecting Arkie friends or anything, but it’s still pretty fabulous.

Just don’t be surprised if we lie when you ask where we found it.
